Theme Night Parties: Pick Your Decade, Pick Your Sound
From 70s disco and 80s pop to Motown and club classics, we build your night around the music you love and keep the dancefloor busy from start to finish.
There's something special about a theme night. The moment the first track drops and the whole room recognises it, you can feel the party take off. Add a dancefloor full of flares, shoulder pads or bucket hats, and you've got a night people will be talking about for years.
Theme nights are one of our favourite events to play. Whether you want a full-on 70s disco, an 80s night packed with synth-pop and power ballads, a soulful Motown evening or a 90s rave revival, we'll build the music around your theme and play it the way it deserves to be played.
We're not just pressing play on a decade playlist. We plan the night with you, mix the big crowd-pleasers with the tracks your guests forgot they loved, and read the room so the dancefloor stays busy from start to finish.
Era Parties
Pick a decade and we'll take your guests straight back to it.
50s & 60s Party
From rock 'n' roll to Beatlemania, this is where pop music as we know it began. Start with the jive and jukebox classics of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Little Richard, then move into the Swinging Sixties with The Beatles, The Kinks, The Supremes, The Beach Boys and Dusty Springfield.
70s Disco Party
The original disco decade, and possibly the easiest theme to dress for. Glitter balls, flares and the sound of ABBA, the Bee Gees, Chic, Donna Summer and Earth, Wind & Fire.
80s Party
Big hair, bold colours and bigger choruses. From Wham!, Madonna and Duran Duran to Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and the Stock Aitken Waterman hit factory, the 80s never fails to fill a dancefloor.
90s Party
Britpop, boy bands, girl power and rave anthems. Oasis and Blur, Spice Girls and Take That, plus the dance classics that ruled the clubs.
2000s Party
The noughties are now officially retro. Think Beyoncé, Girls Aloud, The Killers, Kylie and the R&B and indie floor-fillers that soundtracked a thousand student nights.
Genre Parties
If a style of music means more to you than a decade, build the night around that instead.
Motown and Soul Night
Smooth, joyful and impossible to sit still to. The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops and Aretha Franklin, with a dash of Northern Soul for the dancers.
Disco Night
Disco never really went away. We'll mix the 70s originals with the nu-disco and disco-flavoured pop that followed, from Sister Sledge and Gloria Gaynor through to Jamiroquai, Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris.
Punk and New Wave Night
Fast, loud and full of attitude. The Clash, the Ramones, Blondie, the Buzzcocks and The Jam, moving into the new wave of Talking Heads and Elvis Costello.
Alternative and Indie Night
From The Smiths and The Cure through Britpop to the indie-disco anthems of the 2000s. Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand.
Pop Party
Wall-to-wall hits from every era. If it went to number one and everyone knows the words, it's on the list.
Dance and Club Classics
House, garage, Eurodance and trance anthems from the 90s and 2000s, through to today's chart dance hits.
Disney and Musicals Night
The big showstopper songs from Disney films, West End and Broadway hits, movie musicals and jukebox shows. Think Frozen, The Lion King, Grease, Mamma Mia!, Les Misérables and The Greatest Showman.
Mix and Match Your Theme
Some of the best nights we play combine a decade with a genre, or move through the eras as the evening goes on. A few ideas to get you started:
- 80s Pop vs 90s Dance – a battle of the decades that builds to a big finish
- 70s Disco and Motown – the ultimate feel-good soul and groove night
- Punk to Britpop – a journey through British guitar music from 1976 to 1997
- Decades Night – start in the 60s and work your way to today, one era at a time
- Your Birth Year – the hits from the year you were born, plus the decade that followed
How Theme Nights Work
A theme night can be added to any of our disco packages. For most theme nights we'd recommend the Gold Disco Party Package, because the large screen lets us play the original music videos.
- Check your date using our availability checker below.
- Tell us your theme – a decade, a genre, or a mix of both – and a little about your guests.
- Send us 5–10 must-play tracks so we get a feel for the vibe you're after.
- We build the night around your theme, keeping enough flexibility to read the room.
- You enjoy the party while we keep the dancefloor full.
Good to Know Before You Book
Theme nights work best when your guests are of a similar age. A theme really comes alive when most of the room grew up with the music, or simply loves it. When the crowd is very mixed, a single era or genre can leave a lot of people sitting it out. For that reason we don't usually recommend a theme night for weddings or large family gatherings, where a broad mix of music from across the decades tends to work far better.
We play to the spirit of the theme, not a strict cut-off date. An 80s night won't be limited to records released between 1980 and 1989. To keep the dancefloor full, we'll mix the originals with modern remixes of classic tracks, along with newer songs that were clearly inspired by the era.
Some genres aren't our speciality. We're at our best with music that most people know and love, from chart pop and dance to soul, disco and indie. We're happy to stretch towards the edgier side of a theme, but we don't cater for the more extreme genres such as dubstep, drum and bass, thrash or death metal.
Tips for a Brilliant Theme Night
- Put the theme on the invitation so guests arrive dressed for it and in the party mood.
- Match the room to the music with simple décor and lighting that suits the era.
- Plan a big moment, such as a best-dressed prize or a group dance to a classic.
- Tell us who's coming so we can pitch the music to your guests' ages and tastes.
Theme Night FAQs
Will you play only music from our chosen theme?
We stay true to the spirit of your theme rather than a strict list, so expect the occasional modern remix or era-inspired track alongside the originals. If you'd like the theme to ease off later in the night with some current floor-fillers, just let us know when you book.
Will you dress up too?
We're happy to join in where we can. If your theme needs a specific costume we don't already own, there may be a small charge to cover hire, which we'll agree with you in advance.
Can we have a theme that isn't listed here?
Absolutely. Rock 'n' roll, reggae, ska, country, movie soundtracks and cheesy party classics can all work well, although very niche or extreme genres aren't our speciality.
Can guests still make requests?
Yes. Requests that fit the theme are always welcome, and guests can submit them in advance through our online portal so we can plan them in.
Can we combine a theme night with karaoke?
Definitely. A decade-themed karaoke session is a brilliant way to break up the dancing.

"We booked James for a Disney themed 21st, he gave a perfect mix of songs for all ages and we’ve had so many compliments that the music made the night. Communication and set up were so smoothed and we had an amazing experience, couldn’t recommend enough!!!"
